Jeff Ledger has started a new project called Wii2C64.
“I felt it was time for some modern controllers (Wii ClassicPro) for my C64. I’ll admit the project has gotten a little out of hand, but it works!”
The image above is of the “Rev2” of the breadboard prototype. It’s hard to see the actual Wii connection (buried under the breadboards), The second image below shows the Wii connection in “Rev1”.
Jeff has already drawn up a PCB for this, but still has some debugging to do and also needs to develop the firmware a bit more. Currently it’s only able to switch between joystick ports.
Planned features:
- Button switch between joystick port 1 and joystick port 2 (mostly done)
- Button toggle for rapid fire.
- Two Wii controller connections on the PCB.
- Mappable extra fire button for games which use it. (like Spyhunter)
Jeff will be working on the firmware while he waits for the PCBs.
Initial test results: Paint programs which use joystick are now awesome. Master of the Lamps with thumbstick control feels like this was the way it was suppose to be. Sidescrolling games are pretty sweet. Raid over Moscow hard as heck!

Thanks for the shout out!
An update on these. I’m about to do a run of PCB’s (This week).
Also, to prevent snailmail from Nintendo’s Legal department, the project will be officially renamed to “Classic2C64” :)
Current firmware instructions and a sneek preview of the PCB can be found on this thread: http://propellerpowered.com/forum/index.php?topic=517.0
