RadioShack Files for Bankruptcy

This is not really a retro computing news by itself, but Radio Shack is so attached to the beginning of personal computing, mainly with it TRS-80, and all the others model that followed it, that we have to report the what looked like inevitable.

According to the WSJ, “RadioShack Corp. filed for bankruptcy this Thursday after reaching a deal to sell as many as 2,400 of its stores to hedge fund Standard General. The company, which employed 24,000 people late last year, warned in a December securities filing that it could have to file for bankruptcy protection if it couldn’t raise new funds or get relief from lenders that had blocked its efforts to close stores.”
