Rare Triton QD 3" Disk Drive for Commodore 64 surfaces on eBay

We all know how eBay sellers love to put the word “RARE” on their retro products. It is inevitable to no pay attention to them, but in most cases they are not rare at all.

This time, though, thanks to tomse from Retro Commodore, a really rare C64 accessory was spotted: a Triton QD 3″ Disk Drive for Commodore 64 in working condition. Don’t get excited since the auction has ended and the drive was sold for £125.

The unit can be used with 2.8″ disks and after formatted it will give 100K of storage. Unfortunatelly the QD didn’t do well due to its slow access and high price.

Nonetheless it is interesting to see one in the wild, still working. Lucky the auction winner for his/her acquisition for, in my opinion, a fair price.

The eBay seller “allanbairstow” says in the product description that he will add more products from his personal collection in the upcoming days. Maybe you should check it out!

There is also a video we’ve uploaded to the Vintage is The New Old YouTube channel showing the drive in action.

The site MOS6502.com has an article showing more details about this rare peripheral. It is worth to check it out.
