Alexandre Colella has perpetrated Dodge Rush –CSSCGC2026-
You control a black diamond that moves constantly in snake style using O/P/Q/A. There is no stop — you are always moving forward. You must avoid red sticks travelling horizontally or vertically, yellow diagonal sticks that are difficult to see against the white background, green square flies moving in patterns, and a caterpillar boss that moves horizontally across the screen, reversing at the edges.
Power-ups appear: an invincibility globe that works for a short time, and a magenta tortoise that is supposed to slow down the enemies. In practice the tortoise seems bugged — its effect is barely noticeable once the game speeds up. There is also a boss bar at the top of the screen. When it empties, the caterpillar stops moving, leaves its corpse on screen, and another caterpillar immediately appears.
The game features a combo multiplier that increases as you survive longer and dodge more enemies. The longer you last, the faster everything moves. And of course, there’s a leaderboard so you can proudly show the world your impressive high score in this masterpiece.
Final Verdict
Alexandre Colella has perpetrated Dodge Rush, a game that is ugly, and annoyingly repetitive, with barely-working power-ups and a boss that doesn’t even pretend to be a boss. Play it anyway. Go on, savour the pure, sweet taste of premium crap.
