Defender of the Crown, Cinemaware’s Classic Adventure Coming to Intellivision

Way back in 2015 an Intellivision version of Defender of the Crown was announced on Atari Age. I’m sure most of you will fondly remember the Amiga version and how much of an impact it made on us back in 1986. Released on multiple systems including the Atari ST, Commodore 64 and even the Game Boy Advance, Defender of the Crown is a classic that every true Retro Gamer should own. Although not 100% complete, a few versions of the Intellivision port were sent out to specific people to test play back in February.

It has been a long coming, but Intellivision fans have recently been teased with a game-play video by IntyMichael and we must say it is looking fabulous! Reading through the Atari Age thread, it looks like the game will be released sometime this year. Check out the video below and of course we will keep you up to date with further progress.

  1. We are a little late, but the completed version of the game will be shown in Cologne in August 2019 at Gamescom! The game will debut for purchase at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo in October 2019 and be available by mail order shortly after!
