The latest update to the ApplePi Apple IIe emulator, version 0.2.3 in now available. This release of the ApplePi Apple IIe Emulator brings a plethora of changes and updates, addressing several bugs that had snuck into the emulator. One notable fix includes the swapping of the Apple IIe and enhanced IIe ROMs, ensuring correct functionality. Additionally, The proper Apple II and Apple II Plus character sets have been added to the emulator.
ApplePi, crafted by retired engineer J.B. Ward, stands as a remarkable Apple IIe emulator tailored primarily for the Raspberry Pi platform, though it can be adapted for most Linux distributions with ease. Please refer to the “NOTES.md” on the GitHub page for any build warnings.
The emulator runs seamlessly on the Pi4B and performs acceptably on the Pi3B, although the original Pi might struggle with the load. Ubuntu 20.04, the chosen OS for development of the emulator, also hosts ApplePi effectively. For those keen on building from source, ensure you have the necessary development packages for Qt5 installed on your distribution (refer to ‘NOTES.md’ on the Github page before running qmake).
With version 0.2.3 now live, encountering bugs should be a rarity. However, if you do stumble upon any, we encourage you to report them to the author, jbward@bellaliant.net, providing detailed descriptions of how to reproduce the issue for the fasted possible resultion.
