DOSource 3.3 by Randy Hyde is a disassembled listing of DOS 3.3 for the Apple II computer with comments created by studying the disassembled code. While the code was first released in 1981 on disk by Lazer Micro Systems, and later by A.P.P.L.E. in 2002 on CD, this is the first time Randy’s commented disassembled listing is available as a 140+ page printed book. The contents are summarized in a Table of Contents PDF.

Author
Randy Hyde — a prolific author and programmer who has written numerous applications primarily for the Apple II computer, the Coleco Adam as well as for the Atari 2600. He is the author of the LIZA Assembler and the book Using 6502 Assembly Language, as well as the creator of the High Level Assembly language and SmartBASIC for the Coleco Adam. He was also the author of P-Source: A Guide to the Apple Pascal System, another Datamost published title in 1983. He released Anix 1.0, Speed/Asm, Disasm/65, Trace65, in addition to his work on other applications. Anix was an Apple shell which included support for I/O redirection, EXEC files with parameters, user-written extrinsics or utilities, in addition to a number of other Unix like features. Randy’s articles have appeared in a number of periodicals over the years including 6502 Micro Journal, Call-A.P.P.L.E., Nibble, and others. These days, Randy lives in Riverside and runs Plantation Productions Inc., a company dedicated to event sound, lighting and staging as well as other services for small event locations.

Bill Martens — Apple historian and enthusiast, programmer, President of Apple Pugetsound Program Library Exchange (A.P.P.L.E.) and co-producer of Call-A.P.P.L.E. magazine, and books like: Cyber Jack, Synergistic Software: The Early Games, Nibble Viewpoints, The WOZPAK Special Edition, and What’s Where in the Apple: Enhanced Edition. Bill also co-produced and co-programmed the retro iOS game Structris. Bill is the author of ApPilot/W1, Beyond Quest, The Anatomy of an EAMON, and multiple EAMon adventure games. He is a systems engineer specializing in office infrastructures and has been programming since 1976. And he is the production editor for the A.P.P.L.E. website CallAPPLE.org, writes science fiction novels in his spare time, and is a retired semi-pro football player.
