Nine Lives -C64-

 by Konstantinos Patronas

Nine Lives is a brand-new game for the Commodore 64, on a 16 KB cartridge.

A black cat, a city of rooftops at night, and nine lives to spend.

Every cat has nine lives. Nox, a black cat of the Old Town, has never wasted one. Tonight the moon is full, and the old cats say that whoever runs from the Old Town, through the Neon District, to the Harbour before dawn will be remembered forever. So Nox runs.

Features

  • A one-button rooftop runner: tap for a hop, hold for a full jump
  • Nine lives: a fall sends Nox down to the fire escapes or the street, and she climbs back up
  • Pigeons to catch (nine give a life back), dogs in the street, flowerpots, crumbling old roofs, washing lines that throw you up high
  • Three districts, each with its own colours and buildings: the Old Town, the Neon District, the Harbour at dawn
  • The daily city: enter today’s date and run the same city as everyone else
  • Three layers of parallax scrolling, a moon behind the towers, twinkling stars, a shooting star
  • “Rooftops”, an original SID tune, and sound effects on the third voice
