Bitmap Soft goes cartridge with Freaky Fish DX

Bitmap Soft have made a major move by producing their first cartridge release on the label – Freaky Fish DX by DESIGN/chaos.

Freaky Fish DX is a fun arcade style game that sees you play a giant bubble blowing fish trying to protect the other little fishes in the sea from a dynamite wielding fisherman. The basic objective is to capture the dynamite by blowing a bubble at it or swimming into the dynamite whilst holding a bubble and send the bubble to the surface, aiming at the boat if possible. It features some nice cartoon style graphics and is easy to pick up and play at a casual level.

While Freaky Fish DX has been available as a ‘name your own price’ digital download from the DESIGN/chaos itch.io page for a while, the Bitmap Soft version includes a number of enhancements:

  • 5 new arctic themed levels – pushing the game to 30 levels
  • Updated music (primarily an extended tune in the bonus game)
  • Enhancements to the NTSC version to put the animated “waves” from the PAL version in at the top of the lake
  • addition of an extremely rare green can to the bonus games which gives 500 points
  • new title screen for the game; and
  • other minor changes and game balancing.

Also available as a physical cassette release, the Deluxe Cartridge release of Freaky Fish DX comes in a high quality A5 sized box with a professional looking manual, stickers and a glossy A4 sized poster.
