GBBS Pro 2.4 Manual & Software

Seattle, Washington — November 27, 2024 — Thanks to the tireless workings of Paul H. Lee, Henry Pedro, Brian Wiser, and Bill Martens, the popular Bulletin Board System, GBBS Pro, has received a significant update to version 2.4 – both the software and the expanded physical manual that accompanies it with an additional 30 pages, totaling over 410 pages.

GBBS Pro 2.4 is a user-friendly, highly-modifiable Bulletin Board System (BBS) for communications and entertainment. It has advanced features that can be configured by a novice, yet challenge advanced programmers. Originally released between 1980 and 1993 for Apple II computers, this new 2.4 version has many refinements, including ZModem for the SuperTAC File Transfer system, BBS Listing segment, Games, TCPSer modem driver, and other improvements on four disks. Availability

GBBS Pro Bulletin Board System: Version 2.4 is available through the A.P.P.L.E. bookstore with production and fulfillment by Lulu. Read the Table of Contents (includes list of 2.2 to 2.4 changes). Bill Martens — Apple historian and enthusiast, programmer, President of Apple Pugetsound Program Library Exchange (A.P.P.L.E.) and co-producer of Call-A.P.P.L.E. magazine, and books like: Cyber Jack, Synergistic Software: The Early Games, Nibble Viewpoints, The WOZPAK Special Edition, and What’s Where in the Apple: Enhanced Edition. Bill also co-produced and co-programmed the retro iOS game Structris. Bill is the author of ApPilot/W1, Beyond Quest, The Anatomy of an EAMON, and multiple EAMon adventure games. He is a systems engineer specializing in office infrastructures and has been programming since 1976. And he is the production editor for the A.P.P.L.E. website CallAPPLE.org, writes science fiction novels in his spare time, and is a retired semi-pro football player.

Apple Pugetsound Program Library Exchange (A.P.P.L.E.) has been a global Apple user group since 1978, with membership peaking near 50,000 in 1985.
