Jim Bagley has released some new interesting News regarding info about game loading screens on the ZX Spectrum Next and a New Game!

A quick test to see what some new loading screens could look like :) these were just some ST loading screens quickly resized to 256×192 and put into Spectrum Next palette. Let me know what you think? :)

The second piece of News from Jim is even more exciting. A new game specifically for the Next!, We won’t reveal the name just yet, as it’s still early days, but here’s a teaser pic & video showing some gorgeous char sprites!. Over on the ZX Spectrum Next Facebook group, the announcement received mixed feelings, some regarding the legality in releasing a game so similar to something the mighty “Nintendo” would create. We all know that Nintendo have a tenancy to “strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger” those who attempt to clone their games.
We asked Jim what he thinks about Nintendo and if he thinks it will be an issue.
Don’t worry this game isn’t for sale, it’s a fanmade remake and if they want it removing I’ll gladly take it down :) I’ll be posting all sources to it also, for people to study
So there you have it, the game is set for release (no date set yet) regardless.
We suggest when it is eventually available to the public, to download it quick, as from previous experience, many clone games are taken down within 24 hours (or less). However, we have discussed with Jim about a possible “alternative” version with a different char sprite in place, so the game will still be available online if Nintendo do decide to throw a DMCA. This is something Jim “may” take into consideration, more than likely after the original version has been released. Only time will tell! As usual we will keep you updated with latest ZX Spectrum Next News!
