In his time as President, Iwata oversaw some of the strongest (Wii, DS) and weakest (GameCube, Wii U) periods in Nintendo’s history as a video game company. Last year, he ordered a cut of 50% of his own salary, following Nintendo’s economic downturn.
He was well-known to Nintendo fans from his active participation as host of Nintendo Direct and and his “Iwata Asks” series of interviews with developers. The game industry as a whole has great admiration and he certainly left us too soon. We will miss him bowing down at the end of each show…
