The dust has barely settled following the release of Reformation 2, but Matt Gray (@mattgrayc64) has already launched the Kickstarter to fund Reformation 3, the third compilation of definitive video game remixes.
And judging by his previous efforts, quality is something which Matt knows all about! With remixes of the Last Ninja 2 soundtrack, plus renditions of classic tunes from the likes of Martin Galway and Rob Hubbard, Reformation and it’s sequel delivered a superb listening experience.
In keeping with the series, Reformation 3 promises to include remixes of over 24 music tracks from your favourite C64 games, including:
- Parallax (Martin Galway)
- Cybernoid (Jeroen Tel)
- Chimera (Rob Hubbard)
- Cobra (Ben Daglish)
There’s also the promise of more tracks from System 3’s seminal Last Ninja series, and Matt is looking to broaden his horizons this time around with the possibility of including tracks from some of the greatest Commodore Amiga games as well!
In terms of pledges, £25 will secure you the digital download of Ref 3, which includes high quality MP3 and FLAC recordings of each track.
Progressively higher pledges will unlock additional extras, including 24-bit, 96 kHz remasters from both Reformation 1 and 2 albums, work notes and other information that provide an insight into Matt’s creation process, plus a digital copy of The Best of Matt Gray album from C64Audio.com.
It’s worth noting that the new album will be available in digital format only, and while some potential backers might be disappointed at the lack of a physical edition, it’s the quality of the music that really matters.
The funding goal is set at £20,000 and backers have already pledged over £8,000 in the short time since launch, so it’s almost certain that the project will go ahead if the current trend continues.
