There are many different options for a modern storage for the Apple II and it is always hard to make an informed decision about what is the best option that fits your budget.

Old Tech | New Tech Magazine has published the first of a series of articles planned about the solid state options for the Apple II. The article reports a benchmark comparing CFFA2, CFFA3000 and Floppy Emu, all using SmartPort emulation (as opposed of Floppy Drive emulation). Smartport was usually used to connect hard drives.

The next articles will be full reviews of the CFFA3000 card and the Floppy Emu device.
