PunyJam #1: Write a text adventure!

Sample code
Sample PunyInform code

A game jam is coming up, part competition but mainly a way to learn and have fun together. Each participant (a person, a pair or a team) writes their own text adventure using the PunyInform library. There’s a common theme, which hopefully works as inspiration to get started writing the story.

The theme is announced on Friday 9 April, and that’s when the jam starts. 23 days later all games should be submitted. If you want to, your game will then be played and voted on by judges (anyone can be a judge), and after two weeks of voting a winner is determined. You can also choose to participate in the jam but not enter the competition.

Above all, this jam is about having fun, learning together, and actually writing a full, releasable game. Games written with PunyInform are compiled to Z-code files, which can then be played on any platform for which there is a Z-code interpreter, including most 8-bit and 16-bit computers as well as a modern Mac and Windows PCs. There are also web-based Z-code interpreters.
