Team Rusty Pixels has released a new scroll demo for the ZX Spectrum Next: ScrollNutter. If you are a coder, you will be happy to know that all the source code is included!
Releasing the source of this demo, Jim Bagley and the Rusty Pixels team hope that anyone looking into to developing on the ZX Spectrum Next will be encouraged to produce new intros and demos targeting the new machine!
The zip file containing the demo also includes a Windows emulator that runs Next binaries, ready to run. You can also use ZEsarUX, which runs on multiple platforms and also supports the ZX Spectrum Next.
If you are happy just watching it, here is the video for your convenience :)

(X) Doubt
Care to develop more your opinion?
IMHO the next is missing something: a real *new* challenging (programwise, graphicwise, soundwise) platform. Just by combining old common architectures (e.g. cpu+sid+ay) doesn’t make it an interesting challenge. Of course there will be a lot of demos (just because there are already a lot of tools), but I don’t think the term “taken by storm” will fit. hence the doubt ;)
You have made a good point, Dennis. Maybe the title is too colourful, but the idea was to highlight the beginning of a new demo scene around the Next. Maybe technically is similar to some other machines, but the fact we can have people that never tried making demos to do so for the next might bring at least some new blood to the scene.
nah, the title is quite perfect ;-) I don’t think there will be new sceners for this platform – they will most likely create new games (which is hard enough). btw is there an easy built-in games store concept for the next? that would be something pushing the platform (ya know – money makes the world go round).
I am not aware of a game store on the computer itself. That’s actually a neat idea, but it demands investment and enough games/apps in it to justify, I guess…
