Game development competitions are always fun to participate if you are a developer, and always fun to follow if you are a gamer looking for modern games for your beloved platform.

Earlier this year we saw great games coming out of ABBUC’s Compo for Atari 8-bits and the CPCRetroDev compo that brought to us many more amazing games for the Amstrad 464.

Currently, there are three game competitions still going on for MSX, ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64.

MSXDev’15 started on Sep 20th to accept registrations. The deadline is March 20th, 2016 and the games have to be compatible with a specific configuration listed on the Compo Rules page. There will be cash prizes for the winners which is another incentive for you to participate. So far the MSX compo has two entries: Wing Warriors and Ninja Savior. It is still too early and more great entries are expected towards the deadline.

ZX DEV’2015 is said to be inspired by MSXDev and it is running since last June, with the deadline on March 15th, 2016. The compo accepts games for the ZX Spectrum made using any language. There will be cash prizes from donations as well and the winner will have the option to release his game on cassette. All information for this compo can be obtained on the ZXDev’15 forum.

Last but not least, the RGCD C64 16KB Cartridge Game Development Competition 2015 is not new and always brings excellent releases out of the competition. This one is harder to get in since the deadline is right around the corner: Feb 1st, 2016. The games from the compo can be released commercially by RGCD in case the developer agrees with it.

If you know any other competition that is going on, let us know!
